Code of Conduct

Welcome to Salsa & Sabor!

We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive space where everyone, regardless of level or background, can learn, grow, and enjoy dance together. We encourage kindness, openness, respect, and a positive attitude.

By attending our classes, rehearsals, performances, or events, students are expected to follow the guidelines below.

1. Respect, Harassment & Personal Boundaries

Treat instructors, staff, and fellow students with kindness and respect. Personal boundaries must always be respected.
Anyone may decline a dance, interaction, invitation, request, or physical contact without giving a reason.
Accept someone's answer when they say no or decline. Repeatedly asking or pressuring them is not acceptable.
Unwanted touching, sexual comments or advances, intimidation, persistent unwanted contact, following someone, or other harassing behaviour will not be tolerated.
Respect your partner's boundaries during partner work and close-contact dancing.

If you experience or witness concerning behaviour, speak privately with an instructor or Salsa & Sabor staff member. You do not need to confront the person yourself.

Salsa & Sabor may restrict or end someone's participation when these expectations are violated. Retaliation against anyone for raising a concern will not be tolerated.

2. Attendance & Arrival

Please arrive on time, ideally 5 minutes before class.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, please do not enter, as this can disrupt the class.
Enter the studio and wait quietly inside until your class begins.
Do not wait at the building entrance or on the stairs, particularly at our Midtown location, and be mindful of other classes and businesses.

3. Clothing, Shoes & Hygiene

Come to class prepared to dance comfortably and safely:

Wear sportswear or dance-appropriate clothing.
Wear indoor-only shoes, dance shoes, or socks. Outdoor shoes are not permitted on the dance floor.
Do not chew gum during class.
Maintain good personal and oral hygiene and wear deodorant.
Bring a change of clothes or extra shirts if needed.
Please do not attend class if you are sick or contagious.

Students are encouraged to wear Salsa & Sabor T-shirts and other studio apparel.

4. Studio Etiquette

Stay engaged and attentive during class.
Be mindful of instructors, classmates, other classes, and the shared studio space.
Ask your instructor if you would like the name of a song or audio played in class.

5. Phones, Photos & Recording

Phones may be used when they support your learning.

You may record yourself or an instructor for practice and reference.
Avoid unrelated use such as texting, scrolling social media, or repeatedly checking your phone during class.
If others may appear in your photo or video, let them know and respect anyone who does not wish to be recorded.
Ask permission before publicly sharing footage in which other students are identifiable.
Salsa & Sabor may occasionally take photos or videos during studio activities. If you prefer not to appear, please let an instructor or staff member know.

6. Dance Team Expectations

Dance team members have additional requirements:

Wear the required Salsa & Sabor uniform for designated team activities.
Bring your dance shoes and heels to all practices.

Everyone contributes to the atmosphere at Salsa & Sabor. Being respectful, prepared, attentive, and considerate helps create a positive experience for the entire community.
